Artist's Comments

The setting of light in this picture is called "Butterfly". It's very effective and easy to set - a large softbox is placed almost above the model's head, she looks directly "into" it. (Tip: Actually she's looking into the empty space next to it, so she won't be as blinded by the light). This lighting doesn't work as well with every model, it depends on the facial form a lot.

I would say if you're going to want to highlight her face I eoulf make sure that everything besides her face was in darkness (like her clothes). Rother than that great shot. Also maybe some emotion on he face.

very nice. love her simple expression and the lighting worked out well for this model. i'm not sure how i feel about her visible clothes, though.

I tried to darken her clothes so everything was black - but it didn't really look good.

Beautiful peice. A lot of old hollywood portraits used this kind of lighting. looks really good. she looks like a 50's star :D :clap:
