It is with great pleasure we make our first contribution to the community as new members of the AR team. With so many changes in and additions to the team, there was bound to be a little bit of confusion in the mix. Enthusiasm, however, was the predominant result of the changes. We, the new Photography Gallery Directors, came in with such excitement about our galleries and such readiness to promote the great photography of others that the Daily Deviations page is now abundant with photography features once again! So far the response we have received from the photography community has been welcoming! We are so thankful to those of you who are sending suggestions and will do our best to present a wide variety of excellent photography for Daily Deviations. We ask only that you send your suggestion to just one of the gallery directors. Though it seems that sending a photo to multiple gallery directors increases the chances of its being featured, it actually increases confusion, results in double-posting, etc. It is more efficient to send your suggestion to the gallery director that you feel most likely to choose it. Finally, it is now a bit simpler for you to make your suggestions. There is no longer a stipulation on number of favorites for suggestions, making it easier for you to suggest the photos you love.


Macro Photography

First of all, we have a bunch of good news for the macro lovers among you. After discussions with all 9 photography GDs we decided to bring Macro photography back. We discovered that the term macro doesn't only stand for a technical fact but actually describes a whole genre.

We decided on the following sub-categories:

Macro > Nature
Macro > Objects
Macro > Human

Stay tuned for further details as the categories and descriptions are finalized

Miscats: This is a huge problem in the galleries and it costs gallery directors a lot of time moving the misplaced photos to their appropriate categories. It is wasted time for us, because we could use it doing more helpful things for the community. Please make sure that you submit to the right categories; if you are not sure of the category then please read the gallery info (a link is in the pop up menu under each category). For example pictures of screen shots or pictures of drawings are not Photography. Again, please make sure to check out the gallery descriptions. Also if you come across a miscat please report it via the report violation link. We do browse the galleries on a daily (even hourly) basis but we could overlook a few miscats, please report them via the report violation link and we will take care of them

The miscats in the "Romantic Portraits" category have been numerous, which resulted in the closure of the category. We discovered that most people associate Romance rather than Romanticism to the topic. The category has already been locked for submissions and we will start moving all romatic deviations to appropriate galleries soon. Please help us in the process and spread the word.
