For photographers (esp. the ones who work in the field of fashion photography or people promotion) the SERIES is a powerful and important tool. Try to open a Vogue to see a new designers collection, for example. You'll always find that the pictures come in a conceptual series. Also pure photo artists, maybe even other genres like traditional art often produce in series.

DA is a huge lack in promoting a series!

I think it's really about time someone started working on that. I have read suggestions for a series system before (if I'm not mistaken there had been a series-tool which has been removed before I became a Deviant?), but I haven't come across the topic in a long time from an admin-point-of-view.

Here are my suggestions:

a) Quite simple: Allowing the artist to post thumbs in the image discription.
b) When submitting the image, there should be a checkbox if the deviation is part of a series. If it is, one is asked to enter the links of the connected pictures (if they haven't been uploaded yet one needs to have the option to submit other pieces of the series later). When other people view the deviation, there should be a little thumb gallery underneath the picture, so people are instantly notified that there's more to see.
c) Add your ideas!

Of course I see a risk here: If a small thumb gallery is connected to other deviations there's always the risk that people will just post thumbs who don't belong into the same series so they can get wider exposion. There needs to be a new rule that "singles" need to stay "singles". And of course there need to be new admins who will check out if the series is a REAL one or if people just abuse the new system to get more pageviews.

What do you all think?
Any suggestions or experiences? I'd love to hear your ideas!

I agree!!!
most of my deviations are parts of series so my idea doesn't come across so well.
