I think a mix between suggested work and you choices is a good thing :)

I'm trying my best, unfortunately I don't get a lot of suggestions that include work with high enough level. I get loads of notes asking me to feature their friend/boyfriend/sister... that's no good really.

I hope that people generally won't go for this answer too much, because it's pretty much out of my hands.

I went with more colour but I generally love the DDs that are suggested of colour or not, I think you all have a high standard that shows in what you feature.

I am not really certain, personally - it's odd, I want to suggest something, but I have no idea what, heh.

Not really of great help, I know, but well .... I suppose that if you don't get suggestions from people, you don't have as many items to choose from - there's so much out there on dA, after all.

I think more variety.
Quality is very important.
Seeking out new artists that don't already have a DD is important also.

Well, of course it's all up to you what you feature. It's just the community that makes suggestions, so if there's something we want to change in the DD's, we'll have a hand in that change as well. For you it'll be the most important (and difficult) task to keep the quality of the selections to a high standard. I've seen quite a few DD's (not just from photography) where I thought 'If that's a Daily Deviation, I don't want one' and I've always felt that's not the fault of the person selecting but of the community that's making the pool of suggestions to choose from. I think a lot of people could try a lot harder by looking less at the already popular paved roads and search for talented newcomers. That's hard, I know, but it's very essential for the community in many ways. Not only do good suggestions featuring lesser known deviants enrich the general quality of the site, it's also a nice welcome for people who might otherwise get the idea that they're not popular or 'famous' enough to get a DD. It'll keep the community easily accessible for the really talented people. Remember: it'll only take one person to suggest you and another to feature.

More quality.

Sometimes you see a DD and you don't even have a clue why it's so special. Some DD's, I dare say, are even ugly.

Traditional or digital, originality is important in my opinion..
